SHAFT is an amazing movie with a twist, turns, and a few surprises. Good thing I didn't read this reviews or check the tomato meter before deciding to watch this movie.The visuals were also amazing and looks like a well put movie.
There's an A, B and C story thread to this story. I have never seen So much comedy in an action film as this one I’ve watched .I am not a fan of the movie theater since most times they don't seem to be very clean, but I'm glad I stepped out of my comfort zone to support.I loved how raw and unfiltered the movie was, how spot on with the original. I honestly never saw the first one from 2000 until last night then my friend and I caught the new one today! There's even an angle I didn't talk about, there's a love story which makes it a D story inspiration.
The music was awesome, I'm always ready for good music.This movie sets out to actually address a lot of issues like, Islamophobia, Homophobia, Racism, Sexism, Feminism . Too deep for the bleached, trim, sanctified versions of black city folks that pass for something other than themselves. What made this movie work for me is that first, they changed its theme to an action comedy.
Really awesome movie! I strongly recommend it.I absolutely love this movie. It is definitely my favourite movie of this year! Shaft pointed out lost loves that made its way back together, as well new love. If I had, I most definitely wouldn't have bothered to watch it, and I would have missed out on a good movie.Wow! Guys I cannot stress to you how incredibly funny this movie was start to finish!
I've wondered how the new Shaft would do in these new times. I'm sorry. Maybe I am not a movie expert or movie critic, but watching that movie and seeing them laugh at themselves was the best time I had in the movies in a long time.This move was COMPLETELY AWESOME!!
the 2000 Shaft film was a bit too serious but this one has a lot of humor and often pokes fun at itself.If a movie can pull this much off, there's isn't anything else that I would expect from it beyond that.I adored seeing the father, son relationship between the generations it so very refreshing to see in a movie. It was funny, hilariously full of action. A story being about a father and son trying to catch up on lost years and mending fences.Action too! Strong father and Son bond! Besides the graphic language and sex and violence the movie killed it with the comedy! Want to watch great actors, young and old, women and men, having a grand old time together? Want even to cry a little? Ignore the reviews and see this movie.
I am not trying to be disrespectful to you and your profession but it upsets me that our movies never receive the support for us and I hope you will try and see it from my perspective. If you're a fan of the original Shaft you'll appreciate how the writers appropriately combined old skool with new skool!! .
The casting was pretty good .A perfect balance between a legitimately logical plot.All the actors played their roles well, they were pretty realistic characters that I think most can relate to in some aspects. All together a must-see film. These story threads could have been stand alone movie ideas for a bad movie, but this movie combined all three, and about 30 minutes into the movie, you have all three story threads come together seamlessly. Now left you hanging with Grandpa,Dad, and Son! Trust me! You want to laugh out loud, appreciate great movie design and ensemble acting? this is it. again Great throwback movie, HILARIOUS and AMAZING music!!
Great that they also put the original Shaft Richard Roundtree into the movie and it was more than just a cameo, he had a substantial role in the movie.And of course you'd end up having some genuine laughs along the way. Screw the critics, enjoy the movie!.
actually ends up getting most of it right, while setting a lot of things straight with just the precise amount of action and no unnecessary melodrama. It was also great seeing roles being played by different kinds of people. It's also light-hearted and d acting was over d top.
You are not wasting your money!
Shaft Samuel Jackson, Regina Hall and Richard Roundtree were and I loved how the next generation of brilliant actors Jessie Usher and Alexandra Shipp fell right in!! .
it reminded me a lot of the Lethal Weapon franchise.better than average performances by everyone, except Samuel L Jackson, because he is not above average, he's freaking outstanding as always! .I will be recommending this to my friends and family. Awesome movie go watch it! story being about a rookie "not really" FBI agent trying to unravel the mysteries surrounding the murder of his childhood friend.
I liked how they brought the old man back from the 1971 version of Shaft who played Jackson’s father.A must see! Samuel L Jackson at his best! This made 5 stars in my rating! It’s the Comedy that killed this movie! .story being about FBI crackdown of a terrorist group. I'd recommend this movie for any one who loves good movies. It's a must watch.
